Audio Video Animation and Website Projects

Z Media has a rich background in audio visual projects, in fact it was that industry that led us to expand into web design.
These skills have helped us many times on many jobs and we keep up to date with the associated technology out of interest as well as necessity.
Here are a few memorable projects that we have delivered:

Deva

Deva was a wonderful audio project with the late Richard Graham. Known as Dick Graham he won an Oscar for the famous BBC documentary The War Game. We recorded all of the audio and published the files to EPROM for the still running Exhibition in Chester.

We continued to work with Dick on numerous spoken word projects and were getting back in touch when we learned that he'd passed. RIP Dick. Great to work with.

Youthweb

One of our biggest projects was a £250,000 two year project resulting in eight Accessible websites. Sessions involving eight schools and community groups were carried out to build the content and themes. We had a wonderful time teaching Flash animation and introducing people to their own recently discovered musical talents. A thoroughly enjoyable blend of technology, art and fun.

Collectively known as ‘Youthweb’ the project utilised animation using Macromedia Flash to address the concerns of the young participants. They addressed topics such as rural isolation, substance abuse and disability awareness. It was this project that led us into website Accessibility and all that it entails. The project had an amazing launch party at The Space Centre in Leicester.

Jaguar motor cars

The Jaguar project was very rewarding. Pete, who is sadly no longer with us, secured the work and assembled our intrepid crew. We worked in three or four rooms of a large house that Pete had recently bought. The project lasted about four or so months. It was an intense and rewarding project. Pete bought another house with his share and I came out of it with a house deposit and a useful sum for furniture and a new car (not the nice one pictured here I must add).

The project was using Macromedia Director, basically a posh version of Flash, the animation programme that was bought and ruined by Adobe.

We were tasked with creating a multi lingual ordering system for the Jaguar motor cars website. The system allowed clients to specify the interior and exterior finishes of their Jaguar cars and proceed to the purchase stage.

It’s testament to how well we worked together that I am still very much friends with Paul and Jason who worked on the project with me.

Metamorphosis

The Metamorphosis Cinema project was another project using Flash animation. We began the week teaching the basics of Flash to the twenty or so Junior Year 6 pupils. On the second day they began creating their own animations, some with sound effects and some with music. The project culminated in the animations being screened in the Phoenix Arts, a well known city centre cinema. Metamorphosis was a hugely enjoyable project and many of the participants surprised themselves with the quality of the finished animations.

People Express Anniversary video

We have helped the Derbyshire charity: People Express with numerous websites over the years and a few years ago we produced a video to celebrate their 25th anniversary.

Pusher

Pusher was a remake of the famous Danish film. This version starred a few local celebrities along with Mahima Chaudhry. We were responsible for the highly animated website and we wrote the five soundtracks that played over the five main pages. A wonderful project with some great memories.
