Cloud Services

You have probably heard the word ‘Cloud’ used in a variety of computer service contexts. It is not new and unsurprisingly it isn’t located in the clouds. It is mainly used for two things:

  • Off site back-ups of files
  • Off site processing of data such as email newsletters, contacts databases, image editing
One example is Batchbook, a Customer Relationship Management service. It’s a contacts database that manages your interactions with clients – and much more.
Another example is Mailchimp. This has a FREE entry point if you have less than 2000 contacts so you can try it first. It also integrates with Batchbook to form a powerful marketing tool – especially when further integrated into your Social Media for business activities…

One great factor is that like Mailchimp above a lot  of these services often have a free entry point. They  want you to use their service and then get hooked. This is good because they have to win you over by quality – and some small business find the free service is all they need.

It continues to get good because even if you upgrade to the premium version you usually pay monthly without a contract. They have a massive incentive to keep the service delivering what you want.

“much better than the old model of paying up front for software and then finding the product is poor or the support isn’t any good…”

Our larger website packages have cloud computing training and set-up as an option and we also offer some very attractive back up options to make sure your valuable data is protected.

But don’t forget…
It’s always a good idea to have your own physical back up. Also, if you have sensitive data you should check relevant data protection rules for cloud storage.
