Companies with large websites (over 1,000 pages or with complex functionality) can still justify a webmaster or web team. But we often see vacancies for webmasters when a company’s website is relatively small. The chances are that you are going to take on a technical pay scale salary of £25k+ instead of £18k for an admin pay scale salary.
If you need to replace a webmaster or web person we offer a number of options.
Our websites are so easy to manage you no longer need a specialist to update or create new pages or sections. There’s no code or html to learn, and if you can use Word you will only need one day of training to be comfortably confident. The chances are you no longer need a ‘webmaster’. You can let us:
- train two current members of your staff to use an industry standard system
- or you can hire someone new on an admin pay scale, not a technical pay scale
The Dreamweaver route problem – it’s REALLY expensive and not the best choice
You may be replacing a member of staff who was trained in Dreamweaver to look after your website. The problem with Dreamweaver is that:
- you have to pay for that person’s specialist knowledge on a technical pay scale
- you are also vulnerable to that person leaving and putting you back at square one
- a new person coming into the organisation will take time to absorb your ethos
The difference is clear. You will probably spend £7k per annum more for the Dreamweaver route – and be vulnerable. Our industry standard solution will cost less than £7k so, minus the cost of the site you will save over £21k over the three year life cycle of a website. Hold that vacancy ad!
