The Practical Printer
We're very pleased with this website as it reflects the clean modern image that typifies The Practical Printer. There's a grid based home page featuring Practical's in-house illustrator and SEO optimised pages featuring all of Practical's services. The site should be on our fast Siteground hosting before April and that will complete the package!
People Express - Arts organisation
This is the second website we have built for People Express. A few years ago they had a WordPress website based on an off the shelf theme. This was fine until the theme designer stopped updating the theme. At that point we were asked to recreate the theme with a few aesthetic and functional changes.
This second website is a completely custom WordPress. At the top of their list was a more modern design that was also responsive to mobiles and tablet devices.
Our work with People Express has also brought about a change of Internet Service Provider (ISP). Their former host was a very expensive provider with questionable service. People Express now have a charity friendly ISP with excellent service and very low costs. Consequently this website rebuilding exercise will actually pay for itself well within two years!
So the site is now Responsive to mobiles, iPads etc and has much lower running costs!
The home of skydiving in Scotland since 1960. We have been running and updating both sites for some time now. Skydive Strathallan has an ecommerce booking system where you can choose alternative dates for your first jump course and/or buy gift vouchers.
The site has recently had a reviews system installed by us and feedback from users and the club is all positive.
The Stirling Parachute Centre site has more of a focus on arranging charity skydives. The SEO aspects of these different services work well to keep the organisation busy!
Stirling Parachute Centre
This website attracts prospective ‘Jump for Free’ and ‘Charity Skydive’ clients who then go on to make a Parachute jump (or buy a voucher online). It’s the sister site to our Skydive Strathallan website and most people who skydive in Scotland will have gone through one of these sites at some time.
The site is responsive to mobiles and tablets and has a legacy Flash animation converted to work on modern browsers and mobiles.
After running the Soft Touch website for many years, a potential conflict of interest meant that the re-design had to be handed over to another company with no connections to the charity. We will however continue to manage the various e-commerce elements of the site. This was the last incarnation of the site in Autumn 2014.
We published over 25 years worth of projects and other content as well as extensive social media across two Facebook accounts, a Twitter account, two Youtube accounts, a Pinterest, a Google plus and a LinkedIn account. It scores very, very well in SEO and many projects begin with a phone call "I was looking at your website and saw that you do..."
The charity ensure the website is always on page one of Google by running many events, projects and ventures and ensuring that everything they do that is news worthy is featured in the local press as well as Social Media. Their new building on New Walk - Leicester's first Youth Arts and Heritage Centre - was opened by HRH The Earl of Wessex and the high profile opening has definitely helped to raise their profile.
Case - The Social Enterprise People
Matching their current marketing materials and being an easy to edit WordPress site were the two main aims of the Case website. There's a youtube video on the front page and a page wide slideshow as well as clear navigation to the thirty plus pages as well as a booking facility for training courses.

E-commerce didn’t really work for Prettiez as nearly everyone said that they preferred the tactile non virtual experience - but the vouchers may change that. The virtual bit let’s them see that there’s a new reason to visit – new stock! The site is supported by a very active Facebook and Pinterest.

This interactive project combined a video based quiz supplied on CD, a website and a 64 page booklet.
The interactive quiz involved watching short video's and then answering multiple choice questions to progress through the induction.
The quiz also included a reference section with index and each question correlated to a different industry standard, indicated at the foot of the screen.
The project was wrapped around a launch event so that the CD could be distributed directly to attendees and contact details could be gathered into the CRM and followed up on.
What really works well here is the tie in with the leaflet campaigns and other marketing. Everyone should have a good idea of what they want from a website and in this case it was required to ‘make the phone ring’.
Customer feedback confirmed that after each leaflet campaign customers would look at the web address on the leaflet and then visit the website. The nice clean workshop, reception area and helpful map lead them into making that phone ring!
Obviously we can’t take credit for the all important ‘word of mouth’ but after that for most small business traders it’s a Google search or quick look at your website after seeing traditional marketing that influences whether you get the call or not.
A busy workshop and the need for an extra employee proves the websites’ worth in this case.
Saab has had its ups and downs of late but it’s coming back with a healthy line up of electric powered vehicles to join the petrol and diesel range. Saab repairs and servicing from Malcolm Miles has been more consistent. Still at Erith Road and still friendly, highly skilled and efficient.
This site has a clearly defined job to do. It must attract any searches for Saab service and repair and make the phone ring! It does exactly that and it is on page one of Google for many different search terms that prospective customers may use.
Important information begins with an easy to find phone number and opening hours as well as a functioning Google map so you can be found. Wrap it all up in a stylish website that works even on tiny phones and you have a nice replacement for Yellow Pages!
This was a Flash based film promotion website heavily modified by us for Knightsbridge Media. We got an all too rare chance to spend some time in our sound studio cooking up four tracks for the background, incidental music and button sounds for the UX (User Interface) of the website.
Young Advisors - Young people's blog site
This site is a forum for the young project participants of Soft Touch to express their opinions of the projects they are attending. It is self managing with tiers of admin/author/contributors. After a flurry of event led blogging and then a lull it is now picking up again and starting to stand up for itself.
This website was a recreation of a previous (Joomla) site, converted into the easy to update WordPress by us so that the client could then update the site themselves.
We'll happily quote for any 'conversion to WordPress' jobs. We have converted Dreamweaver, Joomla, Cold Fusion, html and proprietary Content Management Systems to WordPress.
High Impact Education Services came to us looking for a website that reflected what they do, scored well for SEO on various key phrases and is easy to update.
The site build was completed on time despite a tight deadline!
The project included a number of training sessions to get staff comfortable with running the site and Alison Rocket, the MD of High Impact Education Services was delighted with the results.
Enterprise clubs Market Harborough #1 on Google
Liam the sculptor wanted a site to set out what sort of workshops are available and show some of the work created by the participants. It is an Elegant Themes framework using the new Divi theme - a sort of Parallax long page site but with extra pages.
Liam is a friend so we thought we'd try the theme out on him first 🙂
He must like it because we'll be doing his showcase soon!
Divi is now up to version 2.5 and joins the 'X' theme and Enfold amongst other modern (post 2015) themes that offer much more customisations. It does mean that someone (you or us!) has to learn how to use them though...
We are of the opinion that as long as they score well on Google page insights they are a valid choice. Liam is still on speaking terms so we're probably right!
Excluded.org.uk - Website promoting the work and musical output of disadvantaged participants - with Accessibility enhancements
Combining raw talent with professional sound shaping skills this charitable aims organisation wanted to get publicity and fast.
They needed an accessible website that looked great - on a tight budget and within a short timescale. We suggested they choose an Elegant Themes website so the design work was already in place and we then managed to make it more accessible by custom building a text size widget.
Learning for the fourth Age required a website that had accessibility features including a text size chooser. They specified a website that they could update themselves and easily add pages to and they required a website with both a horizontal menu and a vertical menu.
We built Teens and Toddler's Content Managed website and managed updates until their own staff could take it over. Like all good websites it has evolved and improved and we wish them all the best for the future!
